October 21, 2014: Banco Santander Rights

Today I have a new rights operation for Banco Santander. At first it looked complicated but it’s straightforward now.

Rights over Shares SAN
Rights/share 46
Current Shares 249
Current Rights 249
Shares I want to get 6
Rights I need 276
Rights I have to buy 27
Rights’ price 0,147 €
Yield 2,17%
Total rights purchase 3,97 €
Total incl. Fees 4,23 €

In plain words:

  • I had 249 shares.
  • I wanted 6 more.
  • I needed 276 rights, so I had to buy 27 more.
  • I paid 0,147€/right, which translated into shares is 0,147 x 46 = 6,762€/share.
  • The purchase cost me 4,23€. Adding the purchased rights to my assigned rights, I got 6 shares for 4,23€, that’s a price of 0,71€/share. Current price for an Banco Santander share is 6,949€.
  • I end up with 255 shares, and the purchase price is previous price plus 4,23€.
  • My current average price was 4,73€/share incl. fees.
  • My new average price is 4,63€/share.
  • If I wanted to sell my rights I would’ve got a yield of 1/46 = 2,17%.

October 16, 2014: Buying Mapfre

My first purchase of Mapfre was four months ago, 600 shares at 2,959€. Summer is over and, as usual, the market was a bit crazy and many companies took a beating. Now I have the chance to average down.

  • Buy: 400 MAP at 2,501€.
  • Amount: 1.015,19€

My average price stays now at 2.805,57 / 1000 = 2,8057€/share.

A few of my investments are under 0%, and Mapfre is giving me a hard time, but that’s because I didn’t get any dividend yet. I trust things will look better after my first dividend.

October 15, 2014: Realty Income Corp Dividend

Dividend increase! That’s always good news. And this company has given me quite a few, all very low, that’s true, but anyway.

October 14, 2014: Buying funds

Since I decided to move my funds to two indexed ones, I keep putting money into them, from the funds I sold as well as new money. Two weeks ago I transferred my last non-index fund to the North America indexed one, leaving a weight of 2,90% for North America vs. 4,07 for Europe. My aim is to have equal weights, so today I’m adding to North America, again.

  • Buy: AMUNDI FNDS IND EQ NORTH AMERICA AE ACC
  • Amount: 199,96€

The low fees allow me to keep doing several small purchases where, with shares, I would have to perform one big purchase.

October 7, 2014: Buying BME

BME is one of the best Spanish dividend companies, and I was lucky enough to buy it a couple of times at great prices: First time was on June 25, 2013, when I purchased 53 shares at 18,93. A couple of days later I was getting my reward, BTW.

Second time was a few days later, on Jule 5, 2013, when I purchased 54 shares at 18,53. It was a good price. Since then, the shares have recovered and it’s getting hard to average upwards when you came from such low prices. But today I’m doing it.

  • Buy: 50 BME at 29,91€.
  • Amount: 1.510,41€

In previous purchases I spent aroun 1k euro and I got 53 and 54 shares. This time, with 1.5k, I’m getting only 50 shares.

BME falls in total results, because the new purchase didn’t give dividends yet. From 70% to 38%!   But just one dividend will put it back where it deserves: First place.
